I.N.G.D., Because I Know How Much Everyone Loves These....

So I got myself a new fiddle coming! I sold off a couple guitars over the pat week and I did still have to sprinkle a little cash on top to get it but I'm still think I did pretty darn good? The guitars I got rid of were nothing special, (a old Ibanez 12 string acoustic & a old MIM Strat without a guard) but I'm freeing up space & for now at least, the wife is mostly concerned about square footage than she is money...

The guy was originally asking $600 shipped, considering it's in perfect shape & comes with a molded Gibson hard case I personally don't think he was over-reaching too much? I was able to talk him down quite a bit so I got a pretty great deal on it at the end of the day!!! I got $440 for the two guitars I sold & had to put in less than $100 of my own!

My plan originally was to get a Faded Series L.P. or possibly a Faded V but I came across this and realized that I no longer own ANY P-90 guitars. That coupled with the fact that I've always wanted a double cut L.P. Special & I'll probably never be able to afford a vintage one because apparently I'll be having children until I'm dead? LOL!!!

Anyway, I decided this was what I wanted & the price was definitely right!!! I'm kinda stoked to examine the Zero Fret on it, I've often wondered why more modern guitars don't use them? I'm probably going to replace the current wrap around bridge with something a little more intonatable, as well as pull the mini tune off?

I don't think I've never actually played a Gibson that still had one on it & I've heard mixed reviews about them in general. Some people have said they are great and others say it's a huge hinderance to have your guitar tuning itself while you're playing???

I suppose we'll & see what happens when actually arrives before I go buying anything else for it???

Damn. Nice find. Those are sweet.

Re: I.N.G.D., Because I Know How Much Everyone Loves These....

What year is it? If it's 2015 and later, and has the Gforce tuners rather than mini tune, I'd give them a chance first. I love the zero fret on my 2015- but call Gibson, they'll send you a titanium replacement which will last longer

Re: I.N.G.D., Because I Know How Much Everyone Loves These....

Thanks fellas!!! I'm pretty pumped about it for sure!!! It is a 2015 so it does have the G-force tuners, not MinE-Tune. Sorry, I should have specified that, from what I've been told the two are very different things & G-force is a great improvement over MinE-Tune! I'll definitely try it out before I go pulling it off. The only thing that I absolutely know that I'll do to it at this point is replacing the current "Wrapped" bridge with something that has a little more control over the intonation. I don't know, to me it seems like there's something fundamentally wrong with the strings moving when I'm playing, LOL!!!

I actually do have some more pictures, I'll get them up in just a few moments....

Thanks for checking out my latest purchase guys!!!

Sweet guitar. Especially with the P-90s, I'd keep the Gforce tuners- on my Les Paul I can instantly switch to open tunings to play Rolling Stones or Faces Stay with Me, which is a lot of fun

Nice looking axe. I'm surprised that you don't like the wrap tail bridge. I've always wanted to try one.

You know I feel a little dumb for admitting this but I never even considered that & it completely makes sense...

Nice looking ride! P90 can be some real goodness! :headbang:

You can switch to Eb for 80s shred, DAGDAD for Zep, if you look around you can also unlock another bank of tunings for downtuning- like C# for Sabbath.

It's a lot of fun- best of luck with it

I'm probably going to put a Schaller Signum Bridge on it. It's still technically a wraparound, just a little more precise & the strings have more contact with the bridge. "They say" that it makes the guitar resonant better, but they say a lot, so I don't know how much of that is hype & how much is true? I mean I guess it makes sense, I've got a Babicz tremolo on one of my Strat's & it kinda works on the same general principle, although the two are very different bridges?

I've just had bridge issues with similar guitars in the past. The simplicity of the stock bridge is really the beauty of the design but personally I've just found that I prefer having 6 individual adjustable saddles for my set up...

Re: I.N.G.D., Because I Know How Much Everyone Loves These....

I like the TOM style bridge with a string through body. If the Schaller is like a wrap tail but with adjustable saddles, I would probably like that.

Very nice. I've always wanted something like that, or a Les Paul Jr. They are the only Les Pauls I've ever really been attracted to.
