I need 25"

I'm looking to add another axe, and I'm looking at the $900-$1300 range. I would prefer new, but would be willing to get used. So here's the deal....

I'm looking for something with a 25.00" scale and a med. neck. For some reason that's just the right size for my tiny hands. I've looked at PRS CE's for a good while and like them but want to know if there is anything else out there. Dual humbuckers, referably with 2 volume and 2 tone, but 3 knob would work too.

Any recommendations?

Re: I need 25"

Used PRS CE, Standard or Custom ;)

There is another US manufacturer that makes primarily 25" scale instruments, but after the disgusting way they treated a forum member a while back I won´t even mention their name. But here´s a hint: you can only order direct and most of their 25" scale stuff is neckthru.

Re: I need 25"

PRS is the only one I would recommend. Carvin does make them however

Re: I need 25"

I have nothing but good things to say about Carvin's construction and customer care. Of course, it was back in '99-2001 when I had both my DC127's built.

Re: I need 25"

ah Carvin, I have heard good and bad things about their guitars. Everyone always seems to have an opinion about their customer service too weather it be good or bad. Odd that.

Anyhow. Thanks guys.

I may just wait it out for a PRS Single cut. Does anyone know about the status of legal crap between gibson and PRS about those? Was it just over the 2v 2t and 3 way single cut version they were making?

Re: I need 25"

Paul Reed Smith won the case, the singlecut is officially back in production, check out www.prsguitars.com.

Those can be pretty expensive though. I'm lookin at one right now that's about $2500. Ya can always check out used axes though.

Re: I need 25"

Re: I need 25"

I thought it went that she needed 8" and make it hurt, so I stuck it in twice and slapped her?

Re: I need 25"

It's more like 12" and make it hurt, so I did her twice and smacked her in the head with a brick.

:laugh2:

Wow, what a detour this thread has taken, eh? :laugh2:

Re: I need 25"

I don't know about them but I was talking about a 12" brick.

Ummmmm...........errrrrrrr..........yeah, that's it. :laugh2: :D

Re: I need 25"

I just knew this was going to happen to this thread at some point.....and....sure enough....it was only a matter of time.

Aden...take care with what you write. These clowns will take any opportunity they can find...as you have no doubt learned. lol

Re: I need 25"

Back on track, Ibanez had a few S-Classic models out there with a 25.1" scale. They were hardtails, and some were quite expensive and well appointed. The necks are very comfortable, kind of like an EB/MM Steve Lukather model. Still, they only have two knobs. $900-$1300 doesn't put you into custom guitar territory, so Carvin and PRS might be your only option at this point. Maybe a Fatboy or California Carved top, but I'd rather see you wait for the right PRS.

Re: I need 25"

I made a guitar from a Carvin neck-thru. The thing has gorgeous fretwork, very very high tolerance woodworking. It is very rare to see the level of craft that they put into their guitars (for the price).

Some people think that the truss rod they uses adversely affects tone...I can't tell one way or another. All I know is that I have one of their neck thrus (it's basically a telecaster now...pics soon) and it is fantastic.

Customer service was good. They had to make my neck custom, so it took a while, but they kept me informed, which is all I really ask.
