I need a 7 string pickup as close to a full shred as possible

I've been using an sh-5 for a while until my friend brought his guitar with a full shred (bridge) to the studio. I recorded a few riffs with it and promptly wanted to eat the sh-5. It took me a while to decide on a pickup and being a Jeff Waters fan I chose the sh-5. The full shred is exacly what I've been looking for - super articulate, handles tons of gain, etc. Now here's the problem. I also play 7 string guitar and am going to be recording a full length with 6 of the songs being for 7 string. Is there a 7 string pickup that is close to the full shred (duncan, dimarzio - doesn't matter) or can one be modified to full shred specs?

That's very interesting!I was thinking about the same thing for some weeks now.
I am shure i saw somewhere a oicture of 7 string versions of Duncans. If i am not mistaken ,the FS was in that pic too!

One of the local shops has had a CS Demon 7 string for a few years, so there should be no problem with the Full Shred.

Cool, didn't know about the custom shop. I already left a message and sent an email. Thanks..

Tell me how that goes.. I was ready to pull the trigger on a CS 7 full shred for a while now, but after I heard about the blackouts coming out in 7 sized housings I was wanting to go that route instead.

$160 plus shipping, about a 4 week wait. They got back to me the next business day to place the order. Can't wait for mine!

Wow, that's great service and great price! When I heard 'custom shop can make one' I guessed it would be hundreds of $ - it's great to know this option exists at a reasonable price. :):thanks:

Good news, got the full shred 7 string 2 days ago. Ordered on the 13th arrived the 21st. Now that's service! So much for a 4 week wait!

In due time. I'm buying a new 7 string very soon and will have it installed when I get it. It's going to be used on a full length release soon so I'll put up a few links in the near future.

Re: I need a 7 string pickup as close to a full shred as possible

Awesome. The Full Shred is my favorite passive pickup for both positions and the
Blackouts are my favorite pickups overall. Either one will be a killer choice since both are super articulate and powerful. The Blackouts are of course, more extreme tonewise but the FS is not far behind and it's clearer and more articulate. Like I said, either one will be a right choice.
