I need a big 59b!

I feel a lack of mid tones in my 59b so is it a custom (sh-5) or a Custom Custom? There´s a poll on this subject with audio samples included and all.

Custom. The Custom has plenty of bass and treble, like the 59 and has the extra mids you're asking for. The CC has a differant personality with plenty of mids but less bass and treble. Lew

Ceramic? Are you shure? What about the cleans? Isn´t this pup a little nasty?

Re: I need a big 59b!

I find the Custom great for heavy OD, but it is a bit fizzy on semi distorted tones. To me, the C5 is a bit friendlier under low gain and has better cleans, but I think it only works really well if you're playing loud through a Marshally amp.

Re: I need a big 59b!

I have both the c5 and the Custom. The Custom is the Beast, i was dissappointed with the C5. Right, you need the loud and fast Stack to make the C5 sound fat, but with a combo you need a Custom. If you run in a A8 magnet (i think highorderpickups can supply too), change out the ceramic - you will surprised! More round alnico, but still big and fat.

I really like de 59. I really do. I want something like it but with more mids and maybe a little more output. A pup that splits well and also a good match for the PG neck...

The Screamin' Demon may be what you're looking for. See the description in the tone chart. The pickup's name is misleading and is similar to a '59. :)
