There's a custom hardtail Fender Flat-Head Strat, Black Satin finish, loaded with the EMG 81/85 combination, except it's at my local shop (which is in Canada), and it's like $2,000. But it's a f'ing beast, despite the EMG's.
You could use one of those, but I think something like a Jackson Dinky or Soloist will be a good choice.
