Hi,

Im new to the forum. I have a Epiphone LP standard, that i put a 57 classic in the neck. For some reason, i thought that putting a Custom 5 in the bridge would be a good move that would put my lead solos over the top.. WRONG!! The Gibson pickup was hotter than the custom 5, although the custom 5 had a great sound. But im looking for a super hot pickup for the bridge that will give me lots of sustain when the od/distortion is added. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Put either a ceramic or an alnico 8 magnet in that Custom and I'll be willing to bet you'd be happy with it.

Les Pauls love ceramic pickups. I used to have a ceramic 59 in an LP and I got all sorts of great sounds from it.

Get an AlNiCo 8 magnet for that Custom 5 and you'll be as close as you can get to what's wished for.
