hi,

i recently bought two stacks stkt 1n and stkt 3b for my james trussart steelcaster.
i have one push pull (250k) and a 4 way switch.
i tried to wire them, yesterday, but the serie position doesn't work, except if i put a link between the neck cover ground (wire on the 4way switch) and the general ground ( volume pot)???

i woulld be very intersting by the diagram for my wiring ( if i can choose, i would prefer the push pull to split the two stacks on the tone pot)

thanx for reading me

I finally had the chance to look at this. I am surprised anyone didn't get to it. If you wire that red line it will not work. You don't want the green wire to be grounded at all times. It is the reason behind series wiring. Just make sure everything according to wiring and it should be fine. Cavity photos should help us if you have any.

+1

I tried exactly the same wiring in a Fender Baja Telecaster. I found the both PUs in series selection disappointing.

For some reason, connecting two single coils in series makes for beefy sounds. (THINK - Brian May of Queen.) IMO, connecting up four coils all in series just produces mud.

I use this wiring with JB (A8) and JAZZ (A4) with Triple shots on both of them. I am able to try individual coils from each pickup in series. It's like creating hybrid I believe.
In series mode as full HBs they sound really thick and bold but I didn't get any mud. at least It didn't became muddier than JB by it self
