Silly Push/pull Diagram Question

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah!
My question is, ignoring the function of this particular diagram (I just copied it for the image), in this type of push/pull pot diagram, for the switch contacts, is it assumed that the poles are oriented so that the upper pairs are connected in the 'pull' position and the lower pairs are connected in the 'push' position? I mildly messed one of these up recently and it got me wondering if I had misinterpreted the diagram... Thank you!

I love it when I answer my own question! Looking at the function of the diagram, it's 2 coil splits, and the splits would normally be in the 'pull' position, which made me realize that the 'pull' position poles are those closest to the pot in the image, and the 'push' poles are those furthest from the pot. The diagram that I messed up was a more complicated diagram, so it wasn't as obvious (to me) what the correct presentation was...
