I just turned on me Peavey XXX and it turned on for about 2 seconds then the amp turned off and will not work. Now when you flip the on switch to on, the lights by the chanels are working but, the main light to let you know it is on is not on when you flip the switch and the amp is dead. I checked the fuse and the fuse is not blown and it is the corrcet fuse. Any ideas? Please help!!!

Re: I Need Help, Tube Amp Problem!!!!

If you have any spare tubes, start turning the amp off, put in a new tube, then try to turn it on. If it works, you found your bad tube. You can also look and see if any of them are not glowing. Then just turn off the amp and try with the next tube. Keep going and you'll probably find the problem.

Scott,
None of them are glowing. I have a feeling this may be very bad and expensive. I hope I am wrong.

I do believe there's more than one fuse inside the Triple XXX.

could it be a transformer? What I belive is the transformer has a fried smell around it.

Re: I Need Help, Tube Amp Problem!!!!

You may have lost the transformer although I doubt it, it's most likely a component (resistor, cap) inside the amp - in any case don't mess with it, take it to a tech and have them check it out.

Re: I Need Help, Tube Amp Problem!!!!

i dont think it would be a transformer.......as that wouldnt affect the ability for the entire amp to simply be turned on or off
