I need some help

Hey everyone, I don't visit here very often but I felt I should as this would be the best place to ask for help. I have a 2007 Fender Lonestar Strat H/S/S and it comes factory stock with a Seymour Duncan SHPG1 Pearly Gates in the bridge.

Now this is a great pickup but it doesn't have enough output for me. So I went ahead and purchased the SH6 Duncan Distortion. I installed the SH6 last night in the Strat and wired it exactly the same way the Pearly Gates was wired which was bare ground and green soldered together to the back of the volume pot and the black ground to the bridge section of the 5 way switch.

Now all I get is a hum and hardly anything out of the pickup. Did I wire it wrong? If so then why did the Pearly Gates work? They are both 4 conductor wire. I went on Seymour Duncan's site and got a close wiring diagram as the wiring diagram supplied with the pickup is for a 2 humbucker/2 vol-2 tone pot guitar or Les Paul type. There was only one close match for the wiring I needed and that was H/S/S 1 vol 1 tone. It has a NOTE: on the page which states that if a Seymour Duncan humbucker is used with Fender single coils then the green and black wires need to be reversed. This is where I am confused.

Thanks any help would be appreciated

Re: I need some help

Did you join the red & white together and tape them off - that connects the two coils together and forms the signal path through the pickup? There's no coil tap on that guitar, so that's why the red/white are not connected to anything else.

Yes all of that was done, not my first rodeo installing pickups lol. But I contacted Seymour Duncan and Scott Marceau got back to me and told me that the Pearly Gates humbucker that was factory installed by Fender uses Fender's color coding so it doesn't confuse the builders. I just had to switch the green and black around and now it works great! Now to put my Custom '59 Hybrid (single coil sized made by MJ) in the neck when I get it.
