I got a Les Paul Special today. The finish is just straight up mahogany with a light coat of black paint. It is faded in some areas. This is my first real Gibson Made in USA. I've had a couple Epiphones in the past. This guitar has sustain for days. It wasn't in the best shape, some grungy stuff on bridge, dust, rusty screws, etc. What suks is somebody put an Invader in the bridge and supposedly a Custom Custom in the neck. I can't stand the Invader and I think the "Custom Custom" is in the wrong position. I'm looking for a versatile pickup for the bridge. My styles are everything from slight country to blues to hard rock even serious metal like Lamb of God. Would a '59 in the bridge do me right? Or, if I truly have a Custom Custom, should I move that to the bridge and do a '59 or something else in the neck. I have a PRS SE Singlecut with a JB in bridge thats not bad. I just want to get some info from you guys who know the best. Sorry for the rambling.
I found out it is a faded Les Paul Special. It has gotten awesome reviews on the MF site. It came stock with a 490R Alnico in neck and 498T Alnico in bridge. What would come close to that? Thanks
