I need to settle on something... (tele pickup quandary, again)

At some point I should actually go ahead and buy something, for crying out loud... I've lifted the 'guard, and found out the body is routed for various options: Humbucker, mini-bucker, single, strat-size single, or a soapbar (it's as wide as a soapbar from left to right, and wide enough for a 'bucker from "top" to "bottom")... Now there's a voice in my head saying "put in a P90 or PhatCat, do it, do it".

Anyone want to either dissuade or encourage this voice? (And if encouraging, what should I drop in the Bridge? 'Bucker, single, tapped/split...?)

Was thinking of a PhatCat (or soapbar p90, not quite sure which just yet) in the NECK, and a Rio Grande Muy Grande [single-sized] (or something similar) in the BRIDGE.

I love the twang, and I want to keep it, but at the same time I want a broader sound - the pups I've got now (American Std) sound a bit more thin than I'd like (except at the Middle selector position). I want definite string clarity: I want to be able to hear each one, even when distorted and/or overdriven. I also want a sound that I can really make my own, that doesn't sound like half the other idiots around this campus (:)).

While there are a multitude of excellent pickups out there, I would highly
( and I stress HIGHLY!! ) suggest contacting our own zhangligun. Tell him what tones you're after and prepare to be blown away...not only by the tone, but by the amazing service and attention to detail he offers. He'll not only wind you pickups that will blow your doors off, he'll do it at a fair price and with service that is above and beyond the call of duty. Seriously! You can thank me later!

I'll definitely give it a thought (wouldn't mind having some truly unique pups... somwhere between p90s and some SouthWestern twang :D)! Wonder if he ships transatlantic... :)

Anyone else have any suggestions, thoughts? Also, bear in mind that I'm over in Europe, so I may not have great access to more boutique pups.

That I do :) It's just that it's no small amount of cash, and I want to get it right the first time. But, you're right, the sooner the better... almost done with the semester, so, that means weeks of guitar-jamming ahead. The sooner I decide on pups (and have them put in), the less playing time I'll lose.

Go for the p90 neck. Do it ....listen to the voices.
