I saw an Orange AD30 eat a Fender HR Deville for LUNCH!

hmm or was it dinner?

The band before mine the other nite at the Knitting Factory had 2 guitarists. The lead player used a Fender Hot Rod Deville and a 335 and some pedals, while the other played an awesome sparkle LP thru the Orange.

I can tell you this. The lead player was EATEN for lunch as far as tone. The AD30 was like a MINI Marshall with rude mids and bad ass cut, huge full sound from a small 2x12. I was wildly impressed.

I have never been huge on the HR Deville, though I DO KNOW THEY ARE GREAT AMPS!

Any thoughts?

Orange amps are tone monsters. I've got a Rocker 30 head and couldn't be happier with it.

I have a Single Channel Orange AD30 head and absolutely love it :)

Depending on what music I'm playing, I often just plug straight into it, whack the gain and volume up and just control the tone from the guitar :)

An AD30 is something that I really wish I had, there is no doubt in my mind that an AD30 would totally rip apart a HRD.

I don't really like the HR series amps...they seem really cold and lifeless to me. I loved the one Orange I played to death. I'd love one of them!

What in the heck kinda comparison is that? That's like comparing apples to freakin Captain Crunch! :smack:

I have a DeVille. For the price it's great. I only used the clean channel since everyone knows the OD channel isn't the most desirable. Of course that Orange will smoke the DeVille. Or will it since tone is the most subjective/personal thing that exists?

Yes it will smoke it!! LOL

Orange makes some very unique and very cool stuff for sure.

Re: I saw an Orange AD30 eat a Fender HR Deville for LUNCH!

totally agreed on Orange.
Althought they sound orange but the amp is a monster and the tubes used are ... speechless

Re: I saw an Orange AD30 eat a Fender HR Deville for LUNCH!

OK THE COMPARISON is because I got to see 2 players in a good rock band go at it on stage. Second, I happen to know some major players who love HR Deville's on tour. HR's are VERY WELL LOVED, but I am shocked something liek an ORANGE doesn't get more love. More interesting was to hear the LEAD player use the FENDER and the RHYTHM player use the ORANGE.

I use a huge mean Marshall when I play live, and I would never trade the tone. The AD30 is one mean little bugger, and it made me think twice. I heard it, and was floored. I mean, it's a low power amp and it tore up the stage. It was a mini-Marshall. That's why I brought it up. Truly made me say DAAAAAAAAAAAAMN!

The mids are deeeeeeelish.

British toned amps are where it's at for me nowadays. I've gone through a 6L6 period, but British amps have that growl and cut that's too good to do without.
