I see a missing wire on this wiring harness

I ordered a Strat Wiring Harness which I haven't received yet but when I look at the wires on it and compare it to a wiring schematic I notice a discrepancy. On the wiring diagrams you can see an additional wire that connects all three pots. It's a wire that is soldered on the top of the volume and it goes to the top of one tone and on to the top of the other tone.

I don't see that wire on this wiring harness.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

The metal plate they are mounted on electrically connects the ground between them, like on a Jazz bass.

The additional wire ensures all three pot cases are grounded.

That assembly may be relying on the pots being connected via a conductive foil or plate where they attach. When the nuts are tightened the pots bite into the foil or plate and are all connected.

Okay I didn't know that you can leave that metal plate attached. Thanks.

As soon as a pot becomes loose you will lose that ground connection. It’s always a good idea to solder a ground wire between the pots.
