I see that there are a lot of people here who choose Ibanez Guitars, why?

Re: I see that there are a lot of people here who choose Ibanez Guitars, why?

Why are so many guitar photos shown with the guitar laying across a bed? Not picking on BriGuy it's just that I have noticed it also in other posts. Phroid would have a hay day with this.

Lol... just to throw a little gasoline on the fire, their names are "Lita" and "Rachel." [emoji12][emoji56]

I've always seen Ibanez guitars as a nerdy student brand of guitars. If you're really serious about your craft, no smiles, you're probably playing an Ibanez.

I own a Destroyer because those look cool to me. But, pretty much everything else they put out screams nerd.

I agree. Most Ibanez endorsers are 'nerd' guitarists who often explore beyond the pentatonic blues box. I feel sorry for Steve Vai.

^Why would you feel sorry for a guy who has enough wisdom to do precisely what he most enjoys in life, and get enough financial compensation to be much better off than (I'd guess) everyone on this forum??

The people you should be feeling feel sorry for are those silly enough to assume their version of a good life applies to anyone else

Chilax, it's just sarcasm.

Ah.......well thats ok then. Did think it might have been, but there have been a few members who wouldn't have been sarcastic and said that - and you haven't enough posts for us (read me) to tell your style.
We need a sarcasm colour.

Well it's settled then. New forum rule.....all future sarcasm will be posted in sky blue, because it puts my head in the clouds And it shall be thus from this moment forth across the Internet, because I have decreed it so. Can I have an AMEN? Yayessss!

I just use lol for sarcasm or chuckle. Only takes a half second and helps keep me out of trouble lol (< see there ya go lol) <see there ya go lol (<see there ya

Re: I see that there are a lot of people here who choose Ibanez Guitars, why?

It's mainly an aesthetic style thing, and a bang for the buck thing in many cases.

Re: I see that there are a lot of people here who choose Ibanez Guitars, why?

They also make some wonderful semi-hollows if you're open to them. Definitely NOT a thin neck there, and 24.75" scale length.

+1. I have a couple Ibanez Artcore hollowbodies, well-made guitars, the only Ibanez that interest me. I could live a full and content life never seeing another super strat.

For obvious reasons: Guitars are gentle and fragile beings, so they must be treated with TLC. I always shake my head when people lay their guitars on grass or even floor.

Re: I see that there are a lot of people here who choose Ibanez Guitars, why?

I have a couple in my collection. I actually prefer Jacksons and Charvels, but I've always had at least one Ibanez around for years. They're good guitars for the money, and have a different feel, so they fill a niche when I feel like swithcing things up.

I've always liked Ibanez RG550/770/540/Artists/Musicians, etc....and I've cycled through a few. Ibanez has made some awesome guitars through the years and continue to put out some fine products.

2010 ICT700 I currently own and love...

I have some mid-80s models - prefer these because of the specs, square heel and neck shapes. In general, good build, fantastic necks - fatter stuff (pre-Wizard), oil finished -, pups you don't feel bad about changing. You can get a nice guitar in the $300-600 bracket.

Yeah, too much black, but the HH was $150 and the H $100.

What do you think about a RGIR20FE? Is it a good one?

Re: I see that there are a lot of people here who choose Ibanez Guitars, why?

Ibanez was all the rage with the up and coming shredders when I started playing in the late '80s, and this continued until the Grunge thing killed it (before itself dying only a few years later). In 1992, the Ibanez cool factor dropped like a stone overnight, and by the time I bought my original Universe in 1995, Ibanez popularity must have been near the all time low. Fine by me, as it only made the price lower!! :cool2:

I still want and plan to get a nice early '90s unmolested RG770, and an original UV7WH and Blue Floral JEM would be nice, although I wouldn't pay outrageous collector prices for those. Used original RGs are still in a very reasonable price range, although it seems hard to find a mint one. The only others I really want would be a 540P Power guitar (upside down body) and Petrucci White Picasso model, VERY cool and very sleek axes.

Re: I see that there are a lot of people here who choose Ibanez Guitars, why?

New, I don't know. I rarely shop for new guitars anymore.

Ibanez has created a number of things that are very, very good quality and hold up over time. My personal list:
  • Most second-generation Blazers (21 frets) and many Roadstar II guitars. A Lukather is a great guitar
  • Super 70 pickups
  • The Artist series, and semis like the George Benson
  • Some classic pedals, sadly too pricey due to me not being the only one thinking so.
  • Pretty much anything they made/had made in the Fujigen factory
  • By early Japanese standards their pickups and electronics are comparably good.

I also notice that they rarely **** up. There is very little that is branded Ibanez that is an outright bad buy (not counting the very first plywood guitars).

They established a brand unsuccessfully at first (cheap crap), then they had a very drastic high quality phase and then they have been careful to never damage the brand name they built up. And it isn't coincidence. The Fujigen factory was more expensive than competitor factories even back in the day. But they decided to do that investment. And really look into what makes a good pickup. That's expensive but it paid off.

The endorsement nonsense is something that is best ignored.

I would say that Ibanez does a lot better than ESP. Their fake dominance over the heavy metal market is really going on my nerves.
