I spent a little more time with the SH15 now...

Re: I spent a little more time with the SH15 now...

i have an all-mahogany 25.5 scale 22 fret guitar, how do you think the Alt8 would sound in it? would it be too mushy?

Nah its not a mushy pickup. In fact its pretty **** clear under high gain, at least for my 25" scale 22 fret all mahogany guitar.

How is it on pinch harmonics? do they jump out as well as a DD or JB, considering it has a "rounded" treble?

They're just as loud and present but do have a more rounded quality. Its really cool actually. They sound big and round but really take prominence in the mix when I play with my band.

This is good news.:fing2:

how do you think it would sound on a guitar with mahogany body, maple neck with rosewood fretboard, 25.5 scale and 24 frets?

Re: I spent a little more time with the SH15 now...

A little dark maybe but not unpleasant. It'd have quite a smooth tone though, depending on your neck joint. A bolt on neck will quicken the attack, a set neck or neck through will make it smoother sounding.

The fact that it has 24 frets won't matter on the position of the bridge pickup don't worry.

Ok after a few weeks with teh Alt8 i decided to swap it on the Vigier because i believe it will be more adapted to a "Gibson" type. So this one will go to my Sg copy.

And even if it's a good pickup, i love the screaming demon so much ^^

In comparison the demon is clearer, fatter, but also colder, by colder i mean a more "metallic sound", like a telecaster in a way. The Alt 8 sounds warmer, more mids. The Clean sounds are awesome, bright...
With a lot of gain it starts to get a bit mushy and loose presence, and that's where the Demon (still) is N°1.
Will be perfect for people who keep colmplaining about the JB beign loose in the bass and too harsh in the high mids. This is the pickup for you... And for me as well.

I'm not too fond of my SH15 yet, tried it in my les paul Classic, got some feedback problems in that guitars, maybe it's the combination of a heavy sounding guitar + heavy sounding pickup that causes that, don't know.

sound was ok, maybe a bit too unclear.

don't like it as much as the invader, the invader has lot's of bass and thick mids too, but is defenately tighter.

will check it soon in my Flying V, hope it works better there since that's a brighter guitar.
