I was thinking about grabbing the Hiwatt also but had just gotten back to work. Watching The Who at Isle of the Wright this weekend I regret I didn't pull the trigger. Check out Pete at around 6:25
I wouldn't sweat it. Its like a lot of other AIAB pedals, mostly some treble boost going on I think. I doubt its really a Hiwatt front end or anything. It was made in japan, by Hiwatt. Hiwatt makes a Chinese one now. I wouldnt touch it with a ten foot pole.
Glad you found one and you like it. I had mine for a week and it didn't fit with any of my amps at all...too trebly unless I took it all the way to the bassier side of things.
Still a cool pedal though!
I bought an original Guv'nor because I always liked Gary Moores tones with 1.
With me playing it, it sounded very thin and flat so I sold it on. Wish Id've held onto it a bit longer though because if Id've known he used it to boost a cruncy SLO, it would have gotten me alot closer to the sound I wanted.
Oh wow I was goanna say!! I'm stuck using Marshall JCM2000s at my rehearsal space but found the catalinbread SFT changes it a bit but its still not as lively or open sounding as the Deville 4x10 my brother uses at rehearsals or the Traynor YGL2 I use at home
