I think I need/want some Livewire Lipstick Tubes.

Just some Monday morning thinking out loud.

You all will probably get tired of me raving about my Strat with the Livewire II Classic set, but dang, that thang sounds good. But, I still love my Squier VM Lipstick Tube axe:

Trouble is, I pick it up. Play it for a moment. Then set it back down and pick up the Livewire Strat. I know that Lipstick Tubes are designed to be low output, weak-ish pups, but these are truly anemic. (At least, compared to the LW's.) Duh! Running it through my SFX-01 helps, but it isn't the same. The Livewires just have a certain punch and clarity. It's a truly unique voicing.

I would love to get that same "spank" from some active LT's. I wonder if the active circuitry would even fit inside the lipstick cover? Anyway, I can dream.

P.S. I wonder how much different the bona-fide Duncan Lipstick tubes are over the "Designed" versions? :33:

I'm curious as well....

I read some negative reviews online, but then I wonder if it's just people that don't get along with lipsticks period. Then I read positive reviews and cynically wonder if they just don't know what better pickups sound like. :p

The other thing, old Danos were wired in series in the combo positions. I wonder if a series mod would help you out.

I thought about that. But my own thread got me to messing with this a bit. I usually run Strat pups down low in the pickguard. These LT's seem to respond better to being dialed up a little higher. I need to play with some more. It might be fine just the way it is. Just "tweaked" better.

It's still early. I can't really "spank" it too loud right now. ;)
