I think I'm going to cry...

I was just cranking up the Tele, and I guess my amp started moving around a bit from the high volume and it fell over face first onto my Zvex Distortron and smashed the knobs/pots- the Tone knob actually got pushed down into and broke loose from the case. The pedal is no longer working :( (the amp just got a ding in the grill..figures..)

Can anyone recommend a good repair person (thats in the US of A?). Of course that is assuming it will be repairable. I will take some pics and get them up in the next day or two, my family is coming to visit from out of town and I've got to go pick them up at the train station.

Re: I think I'm going to cry...

wait, the Zvex got totalled? or was it your amp?

Re: I think I'm going to cry...

"the amp just got a ding on the grill" means the amp is not totalled.

...the amp did this intentionally, just not in the mood to rock...

im surr zvex will repair your pedal in exchange for the use of this story in their publicity...

Re: I think I'm going to cry...

How much does a new/used pedal cost.?
What part of the "USA" are you in.?

Email Zack directly at ZVex. He'll take care of you. He's usually really good about taking care of customers.

Makes sense to start with the manufacturer and see what they recommend.

Re: I think I'm going to cry...

zvex has a lifetime warranty, but maybe not on crap that you damage. he's a good guy everyone says.

Yep, try this 1st.

I had a problem with my ZVex Super Duper which I bought while in NYC but then bought home to the UK and Zack helped me out and even sent me the components free of charge to get it repaired :friday:

Re: I think I'm going to cry...

Thanks for the advice folks- I'll shoot ZVEX an email on Monday.

Man this sucks, as it's become my go-to hard rock gain sound. My brother was playing my gear today to check out the custom wound pups in my Tele, and after the cleaner stuff I had to just go straight 800 model on the Vox- definitely not nearly as satisfying.

Good thing was he brought me some of my OLD pedals he had somehow ended up with, including my old tube driver,a MIJ Boss Compressor ,MIJ Boss GE-7 and MIA DOD flanger from the mid 1980s. I can probably sell those and get the pedal fixed.

Re: I think I'm going to cry...

Pics- as you can see it broke two of the knobs tops and on the inside the "green block" (I am not a electronics dude, cut me some slack) that the tone control pot is attached to, completely separated from the circuit board- thats all visually I can see wrong.

im doing my best not to laugh cos you said you wantend to cry....but you gotta admit...that was a VERY rock and roll moment!

Re: I think I'm going to cry...

My Epi SG got covered in orange juice and lemonade at a gig last night. That's how rock and roll I am! Very sticky - just been cleaning it.

Sorry to hear about it Jeff. Email those pics to Zvex. I'm sure it's fixable. Dents and dings and scratches just add to the mojo.
