I think I've been converted ... I'm a Strat-Man!

I've always dug the shape of strats. My first one was a Squier Standard but it started to break (structurally) and I've retired and stripped it. Second was a put-together from parts I bought off ebay that went in a trade for my PRS SE Singlecut. My current one is from a trade with Kac and I love it. I've loved them all. I want to get more but I can't justify selling any of my other guitars. My wife and I have an agreement that I can only have 5 at a time. Anywho, I Love Strats!!

Everybody needs at least one strat. They are really versatile too. They can do blues, surf, punk, rock, metal, etc etc.

Glad you have a new strat.... and 5 wives at a time... wow... your first wife is pretty understanding...

Strats are great. They're inexpensive, super easy to maintain, they take a beating, and are total workhorses. And they sound awesome.

I recently came to grips with the fact that I am a bona fide strat guy, and I am finally okay with that. totally okay with it.

After playing a friend's affinity, I have a real urge to get a strats with low outputs and a 2pt trem on a wide maple fretboard. 25.5 feels nice.

Or three... Or five... ;)

The nice thin about electrics is that they don't take up much space if you keep them in gig bags. Can you just stash a bunch more in the attic and rotate five out at a time?

I love Strats too, and I don't entuirely know why. Someone said something like "it's enough to like a thing, you don't have to understand why", but I really wish I new where my lust for Strats comes from.

I know -

Because few know how to EQ a Strat! :)

Wow, two posts in a row mocking other forum members. Can you guys keep these comments in your private group at least?

Strats are really great guitars. They're the chicken of all guitars; they do everything well. Furthermore, they are the perfect modding platform!

It was a simple question, relating to the more technical aspects of wood and hardware resonance peaks and EQ response curves. I don't know what you're getting so defensive about. Usually you are the go-to guy for this kind of information.

I am working on my second Strat and I now have 2 Teles. The funny thing is I always hated Fenders, I avoided them for years. The 60 cycle hum drove me crazy. All of my Fenders have a Humbucker at least in the bridge if not double hums. My best friend came over recently and and commented "I can see why you now like Fenders. All of your Fenders sound like Gibsons." The best of both worlds I guess.

took me a long time to jive with the vibe of single coils and be able to play stuff that sounded good on single coils. I'm still mostly a humbucker guy at heart.

But there's nothing like single coils. Sometimes you just need a bright, brash, warbly single coil sound and no humbucker can cut it.

Agreed I have single a coil in the black Strat HSH and the Green Tele HS. I also have HSS in my Parker. On top of that almost all of my other guitars have a coil split (yeah I know that isn't true single coil, please go away). But like yourself I am a humbucker guy.

I've always played on Singles. Going on 38 years. I even attempted to play heavy metal on singles (back in the old days, you played what you get your hands on). You can do it.

Now that the spoils of adulthood have come, I'm so used to the old Strat sound anything else sounds uncomfortable. That includes HSS, and 2XH guitars. I've tried. I can make them sound good, but there is something just is uncomfortable to me.

balls. The balls make you uncomfortable.

True, true.
