I think this is going to be my next build.

I am thinking of starting with a SG Special husk. I am thinking a white finish with maybe a bit of pearl in the paint, a couple of hotter PAF pickups, locking tuners and a Kahler (the CAD software didn't have a Kahler). I will do 50's wiring with a split/pull in the bridge volume and a pull tap in the neck volume. Chrome hardware all around.

I know this may sound crass, but did you try that with gold hardware?

I am not a fan of gold hardware. It looks ultra cool on white and black guitars IMO. I just don't like the look when it starts to age and wear.

I am probably going to look for a Gibson husk on Ebay. Or a SG Special or Faded project. I am starting to put the funds together so I can strike when I find the right deal. I keep flip/flopping in the pickups. Part of me wants something PAF the other part is thinking covered Black Winter/Jazz set.

That is the vibe I was going with. I am almost tempted to go silvertop on the finish. But how many silver guitars does one man need. I always get down to the moment before the guitar gets sprayed and call an audible before we mix the paint.

Those are cool. I was looking at SG projects on Ebay and found this firewood for $500. If the neck was broken and left alone I would think about repairing it but after this hack job that guitar is gone. Its a shame what some idiot did to this guitar.

I don't know about the steam punk fail but it's def. a neck repair fail, guitar destroyer unless the right special person got ahold of it.
