I took the plunge....

Re: I took the plunge....

my head and cab (both '79) are as new as you can get. i swear it's cleaner than the stuff on the showroom floor at any guitar center. the head has no tears and the cab just has some small scuffs on it but no big tears with wood showing. also after my top secret cleaning technique the tolex shines like new on both the head and cab!

Re: I took the plunge....

I've got a bunch more pictures, but I'm going to let Luke post them in the morning. He wanted me to throw one up to satisfy your cravings until he could sort through them and everything. So for all who asked, here's his Marshall:

B-E-A-Utiful Luke! Classic Marshalls just roar, especially KT88 ones, hope you don't have any neighbors (or family members) that mind loud guitar playing. :beerchug:

Re: I took the plunge....

Congrats Luke....nice choice. Glad we could twist your arm a little. Can't wait for a full report, and to have high speed access so I can see the pics.

Mike...as for you....bastard. Here's mine right now.

She gave me the go ahead and after some...negotiations we loaded it up and off I went.

Am I the Only one that Finds it disturbing that he had to get "the go ahead" from His wife Before he could buy it?
Can anyone say "whipped"? (j/k....sorta)

But anyways, Thats a nice amp.

That's the TONAL go ahead man! Besides she DID buy me a PRS back in April, but it's going to have to find a new home I'm afraid.

D!ck and I took a ton of pictures for maximum GAS induction!

The only bad part on the cab is the bottom side of the plug here.

Nice score, Luke. That is very very nice looking. I'm always in awe when I see an amp of that age in that good of shape. :baby:

Here's mine. It may be a newer model but as of today, she's actually old.

Do you not recognize your own face?!? That's you. Mine was behind the camera, where I could see the LCD screen. There's no way I could have got my face in that or any picture. Plus, the camera would have broken afterward.

AHA that makes much much more sense!

Re: I took the plunge....

Beautiful looking set.

Really beautiful. Play it hard.

RCA 6550s... I've been looking for a set of those for a while. What's in the preamp slots?

Re: I took the plunge....

Luke...that thing is PRISTINE....

NEVER EVER SELL IT....

Vintage Market isn't "there" yet...but eventually that amp will be a "Holy Grail"

Personally those and the 72-ish to mid 70s NMV amps are my fave Marshalls ever...

CRUNCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Not sure about the clips. Never used it on the album, that much I know.
Harry took it apart and rebuilt it faster, stronger, better. It's quiter, has way more dynamic range, greater harmonic detail, and better sounding gain now.

Bionic amp...way cool :D

So you didn't have any gain stages added or anything....

No. Harry and I discussed it as a possibe 'down the road thing', and I'm glad I never did that, in retrospect.
