I upgraded my Les Paul Stop Tail and studs

..with a NOS Kahler Stoptail and studs..and get this..its Brass! This might, to a degree, offset and warm the bright nature of my solid state frets. If you have a cheap zinc stop tail piece..then if I were you, I'd spring like a tiger on this deal. For less than 40 bucks shipped, its elementary, my dear Watson.

I've had prior dealings with "Wammyworld" ( beliveI bought brass trem arm end), and they are very satisfactory.

Back in the 80's it was hip to put brass everything on guitars, bridges, TP's, nuts, etc. After a while, the fad died out for some reason (I think brass tarnishes with time, which may be one consideration).

I dunno if I'd say "upgraded stop bar" and "brass" in the same statement however since you have Solid State frets I have to ask myself what I know about it!

I know it's tempting to pick on Jerry (and easy too, so easy) but that was obviously a typo. He doesn't actually think that there are solid state frets.

Then again, he did think that SMT=digital...

^ Oh man...I forgot to consider the Chrome tuners would look weird with all the brass bridge hardware.

I did a search, and it don't seem that brass is used for tuners.... not up to the strees requirements I believe it is. Schaller does use brass bridge posts on their tuners..why, IDK.
I've seen some Grover aged brass "finish" tuners that wouldn't match the polished Brass tailpiece. Maybe gold tuners would look better than Chrome?

It seems to me I've seen some Brass polished finished tuners, but I can't be sure.
Anyway, simply put, the tone suck of that horrible zinc crap on most later Les Pauls is pretty bad-to-aweful. I would definitely go get at the very least a Japanese Aluminum bridge and stop tail, and much better yet, a Steel bridge from Callaham, or there is another maker now on the Bay.Thats what they used on the early burst is aluminum.

I'm not really up on the pigtail stuff. The Tone-pros is good , but not steel
I found out Brass is heavier than either steel or Copper, so this bridge will ad some weight on a pretty light guitar already- the '85 funky Les Paul double cut with the Explorer headstock.

The Brass may not be perfect, and it isn't , but it has got to be a big improvement over the stock rinky- dink cheap Zinc/ whatever they call it on modern Les Pauls, and other Gibson models.

You could have gone with this Kahler brass stoptail in chrome and not had to worry about the tuners.

As for the brass tuneomatic, Guitarfetish has one. It doesn't look traditional, but it does look like it'd transfer tone well. They also offer it in a chrome, nickel, and black finish.

Thanks SO much for that info. Ive requested my order ot be changed to the Chrome. What a deal those Kahlers are!



EDIT-_ WAMMIWORLD DELIVERS! HAVE NO FEAR! OUTSTANDING QUALITY STOPTAIL. I VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS UNIT.
