I want a Marshall combo amp

Re: I want a Marshall combo amp

If you're going to be cranking it the DSL 5C is a great sounding combo amp. I found it too loud for home use, even with it on the 1 watt setting, without using pedals to get more gain.
Get a CODE 50. Everyone will have one eventually. :rambo:

Re: I want a Marshall combo amp

We know all those cabs on the Van Halen and Slayer stages in the 80's were at least half stage props...

They do look glorious though :)

I remember being at a concert (mid 90s?) where Pretenders opened for Van Halen. After Pretenders was done they unveiled a wall of 4x12s and Hagar started climbing on them. Gotta admit it added to the experience :)

I hope you'll forgive me if it takes me a while to get around to it. I have nothing but tube amps now, and two of them are eye-wateringly loud.

Re: I want a Marshall combo amp

I've always thought that looks don't matter. How it sounds matter. If it sounds good, then, by definition, it looks good, at least to me.

Looks matter.

The OP was transparent enough to say that he wants a Marshall because it looks cool.

And he's right.

But looks are important...

Yes. To some style is certainly more important than substance. To me, truth is beauty.

Re: I want a Marshall combo amp

Bass play, part owner of music store brought this over. Said I could use my amp this weekend but I needed to learn how to use this by next weekend...if I did, it is mine.

Congratulations! You've got an endorsement deal!

Re: I want a Marshall combo amp

He'd rather have you play a Boss Katana than a Tweed Champ? It would be one thing if he wheeled a Marshall half stack over, but....
What happened to the Deluxe Reverb?

Re: I want a Marshall combo amp

Ya know when I first saw the picture of the Katana
I thought you mad covered and painted the project amp

The first thing I noticed was the handle

So He's just gonna give you the amp for the duration of the gig
Let you make payments, or yours forever more

Length of the gig would be cool
Renting it for the gig would be kinda cool
If it was a short one

Re: I want a Marshall combo amp

If I can figure out how to make it work by next weekends gig and use it, it is mine to keep. I guess I out to plug it in and see what I'm up against.

In regards to the Deluxe Reverb, even with discounts it would still have c0st me $800. I don't like gigging and only do it as a favor when friends need some help which is not that often. No sense spending the money on something that I would rarely use.

Re: I want a Marshall combo amp

Katana will go clean all the way to 50W and sounds decent not as rich as a tube but for gigging it will do. Anybody know how to make the thing react like a simple tube amp where you go full volume on the amp and get increasing overdrive into distortion as you roll the volume up on the guitar? Can't find a Boss forum.

Looking at the manual
Located on the Sweet water site
I believe, depending on the amp model you have chosen,
you may have to set up the booster for the green BD2 setting
Set that where your lead tone would exist with guitar volume full up
Then roll back to let the BD2 clean up

Of course the "brown" channel may do that anyways
Idk
I don't have one

Re: I want a Marshall combo amp

I'm sure you're right. Now if you'll humor me to explain why you think that is.

Simply because it sounds good at bedroom volumes without the hassle of pedals and cables all over the place. It's just fun and simple. I'm not actually being serious when I say everyone will eventually own one, but they are great wee amps.
