I want a new guitar

Re: I want a new guitar

Save 'yer scratch & hunt around for a GREAT used American made instrument.

That, and don't buy a guitar from a catalog.

Would 'ya order a girlfriend out of a catalog?!?

Save up some more cash like others said so when the right axe comes along you'll have the bills to snatch it.

Re: I want a new guitar

Have you played a Schecter StratTom? they play like a dream but are more lightweight than the ESP you are looking at. If you put some real duncans in there you cant beat this guitar for what your goin for.

(in my opinion)

I am going to have to disagree with you.

+1 to the dead comment.

Save up for a guitar that is great by itself with out having to update the pickups. Not that I don't like Duncans. Personally, I have gone the get a guitar and new pups route and I have been disappointed time and time again. Get something that does not need to have a pup upgrade. Get the pup change to better suite your sound, not to upgrade the guitar. I think you will be happier in the end.

Re: I want a new guitar

For less than $800 you could hook up with a faded series gibson and have what you really need at that stage. No one needs a $1000 finish, but everyone can use the tone they offer.

Re: I want a new guitar

Get a used les paul studio; that guitar will last you forever!

Another option is a used american strat or tele. If you buy used, you can flip it for more money.

I bought a 92 american Tele with sperzel locking tuners and antiquities for 300 bucks. Deals are out there. Craigslist it up!

Re: I want a new guitar

If you want something that says gibson on it but is HORRIBlY DISCUSTINLGY UGLY OMG!!! than get the faded sg special by gibson otherwise go with what Omni9X said. Studio's are wonderfull guitars and you could get a good price on the bay man.

i also agree with ericmeyer4 get a guitar that will sound good stock and not spend $150 bucks on pups. if you do that, GET A GIBSON!

Re: I want a new guitar

Thanks for all the responses guys, I really appreciate it.

Yes I've played some Schecter's blondie and some of the ones I've played I've liked.

Eric, I agree with what you say as well. I like Duncan pickups too but if I get a new guitar I want to get something that sounds good from the gettgo(sp?).

I've thought about looking at some LP studios, I don't mind that its a studio because that's all I'll probably use it for anyway, recording.

And those Vintage LP's look cool and from the reviews on MF's site (which I take with a grain of salt like any review btw) it sounds like a killer deal.

I'm hoping to get out this weekend to check some out. Mainly my reason for this post was to know what to stay away from. Again, thanks for all your help.
