which seymour duncan pickups should i use on my les paul , i wanna get it to sound like kind of godsmack , aggresive???? what would you recommed

Re: i want my les paul to sound lke godsmack ?????????

i think that has alot to do with his amps ( i think Mesas?) and i think i read that the dude from godsmack uses pearly gates.... and if thats the case, then its definately the amps cause PGs arent high output aggressive...

what amps are you using

Re: i want my les paul to sound lke godsmack ?????????

It's all in the playing style bro. Yeah, whats his face uses a PG, but the bastid's got a crazy pick attack.

Re: i want my les paul to sound lke godsmack ?????????

It is probally more the amp than the pickups or the guitar. I can play a great guitar through a piece of crap amp and it still sounds like trash. One can take a lackluster guitar and play it through a great amp and it sounds ALOT better than the great guitar through a trashy amp.

Lackluster was my old band's name... I kinda liked that name too.

Oh yeah... I forgot... :offtopic: my bad...

Re: i want my les paul to sound lke godsmack ?????????

ok lets forget about the godsmack sound , i just want my les paul to sound aggressive at high volumes , i want it to sound awesome , because the original epiphone les paul standard pickups suck man , the sound good at low volumes but when i crank up the volume they just sound ugly , i own a schecter c1 with stock duncan design , and at low volumes they similar , but at high volumes the schecter eats the les paul , the duncan design sound way better than stock les paul standard epiphones, so what do you people recommend , i use a 30 watt marshall amp at home and a crate half stack i dont know the name its the one that costs about $600 bucks
also can you all recommend me a great distortion pedal ????? what about the line 6 distortion modeler is it good ? i have heard bad reviews ?? or the boss gt 3 ??????? what u think

gear:
epiphone les paul standard honeyburst
schecter c1 silver top <----- awesome guitar
yamaha strat style 112
epiphone acoustic
ibanez smash box <---- dont buy this pedal suckss
zoom 505 II <-- actually it sounds great with the c1

Re: i want my les paul to sound lke godsmack ?????????

For an aggressive LP sound I would go with a PGn and a Custom at the bridge. This combo has enough output to get heavy, but is not so hot so as to be a one trick pony.

I don't know much about dist. pedals, sorry.

That's good pick up combo, or you could go '59 neck and stick with the Custom in the bridge. As for the dist. pedal, just go and try some out at your local music shop.
