I want to build my own Fly Rig....Mooer style

Aceman

I am your doctor of love!
So I have this as my "mini-rig" of mower pedals. Actually gigged it through a Open mic Roland Cube set clean. Worked fantastic. I often take it as my practice rig when I want to travel light.

I'm thinking of expanding it. I like it better than the Fly Rig because with Mooer, I get so many more choices, and cheaper.

So I'm thinking of adding the following:

#1 An Acoustic Sim

#2 A Mod pedal - to cover an mod not a chorus!

#3 For use as a stand alone/DI
- The Mooer DI
- A Tres Cab

If I had that all arranged on a mini board of some sort....

I could go acoustic with an electric, I could run into an amp front with a couple of distortions (Solo clean, or juice something with the Black Secret), I could pick a cab and hit the DI and go straight to a board for no amp at all. But what suggestions do you all have?

I could go:

Row 1. Guitar > Solo > Black > Green Mile > Acoustic > Boost
Row 2. Chorus > Mod pedal > Delay > Analog Delay
DI Row Tres Cab > DI

If you want a straight plug and play cab sim, the tres cab is a good route. If you want to load third part Cabs (Celestion or 3 sigma audio) and tweak the power amp, a Mooer Radar is a better route. It seems to be more or less on par with a Two Notes Torpedo CAB. I would've gotten the Radar, but I found a Torpedo CAB for a killer price.

Wow....way overkill. But very vey cool.

Haha, just giving you options for the cab sim. I'm with you on Mooer stuff. It's damn hard to beat at their price point.

Prymaxe often has demo versions at great prices. Great guys to work with too.

Check out one of the mini preamps for DI, they have built in cab sims.

Well, adding a few pedals the same size won't add much weight, but you'd have to get another board. Just resist the urge to throw everything on there. A 'fly rig' is really just about the most basic stuff you can get away with using, with the smallest size and lowest weight. I use an actual FlyRig5, wich means all I have is amp sim, boost, overdrive and delay. I could do any show with that.

Re: I want to build my own Fly Rig....Mooer style

Yeah Dave...I hear you. I'm building a smaller mega board!

Maybe I just keep it the way it is, get the DI and Cab sim just in case. If I want - I swap out a pedal here or there for the event. Like, lose the Rat for an acoustic sim, mod for a second delay, etc....

Re: I want to build my own Fly Rig....Mooer style

If you can do that quickly, you can keep those extra pedals in the pocket of the bag you carry it in...and swap as needed.

Just need to keep a couple extra spots available on the One Spot chain....

EZ enough.

Re: I want to build my own Fly Rig....Mooer style

As an "all in one" solution MOOER came out with the Red Truck. Quite similar to what the OP intended...

Re: I want to build my own Fly Rig....Mooer style

I'm going back to - "Have ten pedals, pick the 5 I need for the application"

Fly rig would be:
Solo, Pure Boost, Reecho, Tres Cab, DI.

or

Green Mile, Ultra, Mod Factory, Ana Echo, Shimverb

Or

Comp, Acoustic Sim, Ensemble King, Reecho, Pure Boost

And so on....

I like it. But what if you need 6?

Or is that the idea?

Re: I want to build my own Fly Rig....Mooer style

Limit of five per customer! Or gig. Or jam, Or whatever...

Re: I want to build my own Fly Rig....Mooer style

No Sixth for you!

Still want to build a baby board, I have enough minis for one. Was that just a piece of wood you painted?

Re: I want to build my own Fly Rig....Mooer style

Yeah. Two strips, 3 cross pieces and some glue + Red spray and velcro.

I could make one big enough for 6 in about 30 minutes.

Re: I want to build my own Fly Rig....Mooer style

Mooer has its own carrying case for 5 mini pedals...Porta Board.jpg … swap in and out as needed

Re: I want to build my own Fly Rig....Mooer style

That's still a pretty cool little case, though. I bet you can find a more sturdy one that was meant for tools or something.

Re: I want to build my own Fly Rig....Mooer style

Just yesterday I got curious about the idea of building a small mooer board for home practice. So two of those preamp pedals (clean + od), their power amp mini pedal and the radar for cab sims. Imagine my surprise when I realised that rig would cost as much as a decent lunchbox tube amp.
