I want to try a compression pedal, any advice?

As the title says...
I think I'll see if the local shop has a BOSS CS-3 if I get a chance to go in on Monday, but I'll be in El Paso next week and I'm sure they've got music shops where I can try some stuff out.

So, anyway, do you know of any preferably stomp box type pedals I should try out?

The Boss CS-3 is nice. For under $100 I like it best. A bit noisy, and a bit tone coloring, but it can be modded pretty well.

i had the boss compressor, and i returned it after about 3 days. too much coloration of the tone.

sure it can be modded, but i'm not going to shell out my cash for a pedal with intentions to have it modded, you're better off just getting a better-made one IMO.

Very True :13:

I'll definetly try whatever I'm gonna buy first... Kinda wish I wasn't leaving for a couple weeks cuz I'd really like to try a couple now, cuz this thread will be lost and I might forget to search for it in 2 weeks :smack:

Oh Well, THanks for your advice guys!

digitech make a good one (the only digitechs i'd consider, really) i think it's called the main squeeze..

a recent guitar mag shootout put the CS-3 above the main squeeze on VFM alone.. this was before the line6 tonecores came out, though..

I was impressed by the Marshall ED-1. I think thats what its called. Its a compressor made by marshall. I would really check one out.

I'd love to get a Barber Tone Press. They're not as expensive as you would think a boutique pedal would be and they beat the pants off anything Boss or Digicrap has to offer. :D
