I want

Re: I want

Is that suppose to be a fretless version of fanned frets?...typically the bridge is angled...and I can't tell from the pics if the nut is straight or angled...

Re: I want

Wow, my head hurts !

Haha! That is a mind-blowing thought! I have enough trouble playing with frets let alone fretless and then fanning them! lol :)

But on closer inspection, I think the nut and bridge are straigt, so I will assume not fanned and just a cool way of extending the high strings.

Re: I want

Judging by the photograph, the only things that are angled are the neck position pickup and the end of the fingerboard.

Fretless guitar can be fun. The trick is to tune to a chord. This way, some chord shapes are just a one finger barre and related major chords require just one or two additional fingers. Very much like the Keith Richards open G formula.

Re: I want

I ripped the frets out of a neck that had an ever-so-slight twist. It was rather difficult since the fretboard was ebony, and when you are too rough with that wood it explodes, rather than splintering. I then glued strips of maple into the empty slots and sanded it flat . . . makes it far easier to play, since I rarely try and make chords that have any more than two or three notes on it. That neck spends most of it's time on a Ibanez Holdsworth model from the 80's.
When played with an E-bow it's a whole new instrument, especially with fun pedals like delays and octavers.....

Dude, thats an awesome idea! Do you have a pic of that neck? I bet the contrast of ebony and maple looks awesome!
