I digtal processor that has presets of the more popular 80's era guatarist! The sounds I would like to see: Ratt, Randy Rhoads, George Lynch, Mick Mars, C.C. DeVille, Scorpions, etc.

It seems that the processors these days have presets to guitarist that I've never heard of.

I so long for the fun days of the 80's Metal!!!

Buy a Vox Valvetronix AD60 or 120 head, and a Marshall cab.

Then sit down with examples of all your favorite tones on records, and tweak the amp models/EQ/OD's till you duplicate the sound, then hit 'store.'

I know for a fact that the Valvetronix head/cab can nail those sounds. You just have to have a good ear for tweaking.

By an old ADA MP-1 off ebay. A lot of the guys you mentioned used one in the 80s- Lynch, Vitto Bratta, Loudness, etc... It is still a good unit- just a little noisy.

Why not go the simple (although somewhat expense) route. (1) Les Paul, (1) Floyded Strat, (1) Marshall JCM800

Dude - I can nail ALL of those sounds (except for Lynch) with my Roland cube:

5150 amp model to equal heavily modded marshall
Scoop or boost mids depending...
Delay (multi repeats or tight doubled for that metallic sound)
Chorus (wide setting)
Little verb...

Go over to the VooDoo Amps site. They sell modded out MP-1s that SLAY !!!

The Ebay route is cheaper, but you never know what you're gonna get over there :dunno:

Modded 800 or an 800 with Boss SD-1 will do alot of them. Just change around setting on the pedal and amp.
The vox does well just not perfect.

Most modelers will give you the tones you need, but they just need to be tweaked a bit. But I fel the same way. With my Vox ToneLab, the factory presets are all the usual "classics". The only exceptions are the "modern" tones of Limp Bizkit (who's trying to nail Limp Bizkit's tone?), George Lynch, and Zakk Wylde. Because of that, I've had to sit down and create my own patches for the '90s to contemporary tones I prefer.
