I would appreciate some pickup recommendations...

I used the pickup wizard but im not sure yet...

it recommends the following:

Bridge 1 SH-4 JB Model hummer.shtml#2 Description Tonechart
Bridge 2 SH-14 Custom 5 na.shtml Description Tonechart
Neck 1 SH-2N Jazz Model hummer.shtml#1 Description Tonechart
Neck 2 SH-1N '59 Model hummer.shtml#1 Description Tonechart
Middle 1 na.shtml na.shtml Description Tonechart
Middle 2 na.shtml na.shtml Description Tonechart

so basically I have either the JB or Custom 5 for bridge, and either a Jazz or '59 for neck. The problem is, I have seen a thread on here that says the JB sucks...and im not sure about the custom 5. any suggestions would be great.

edit: guitar is a PRS copy with the following:

Basswood Body
Flamed Maple top
22 fret set neck
24.75" scale
abalone inlays
sealed tuners
tune-o-matic bridge
2x zebra humbuckers
1 volume 1 tone
3 way selector switch

thanks!

I play mainly rock (not metal or anything really heavy) and blues.

edit again: (thanks JBfromhell :) )

Im running my guitars into a Marshall Jcm2000 dsl50 head connected to a 1960a cabinet.
the only pedals I have are a visualsound jekyll + hyde dual overdrive, and a delay. I like running straight into the amp though, it works well for me. The stock pickups in my guitar are a bit muddy, which is the main thing I want to fix probably. I would like a fat pickup but still clear. As said earlier, im mainly doing rock/blues. thanks!

edit once again lol: is it possible to have seymourduncan add pickup covers before they ship the pickup to you?

Re: I would appreciate some pickup recommendations...

More info would be great, too :)

(guitar, amp, pedals, type of music, tone you're going after....)

Re: I would appreciate some pickup recommendations...

The JB sounds pretty killer in basswood I have found. For the neck you might consider something vintage for blues. I hear pretty good things about Alnico II pros.

Re: I would appreciate some pickup recommendations...

Check out the Custom/'59.

Yeah, you can get them with covers from the factory.

Re: I would appreciate some pickup recommendations...

Just wanted to add that I have learned of "GFS" pickups. Are these any good?

Re: I would appreciate some pickup recommendations...

+1 on the jb, maybe a duncan custom too

I was reading this thread about JB's though, and people said they suck in certain guitars. Am I on the safe side using a JB with my guitar, or am I taking a chance that it will sound great?

Re: I would appreciate some pickup recommendations...

people who think they suck in certain guitars is not putting them in the right guitars. yamaha pacificas and jacksons use the jb for their bridge pups. you know they sound good. i don't care what anyone says, but a good midrange is what you need to cut through in a mix. the jb has a lot to offer.

Re: I would appreciate some pickup recommendations...

The GFS pups are great for the money but i dont think they stand up to duncans. personally...id check out a 59 in the neck and i dont like bridge pickups very much so im not gonna give any advice on that. i have heard good things about the JB though

Re: I would appreciate some pickup recommendations...

yeah, most of the time im using my neck pickup anyway haha...I should probably just get a neck perhaps, thanks!
