I wrote and recorded this in my garage last night

Re: I wrote and recorded this in my garage last night

I was aiming for a dark, damp, wicked, scummy kind of sound. With short simple (kick you in the nuts) lyrics.

I think I hear Hallows Eve, Crowbar, and a touch of Danzig in there.

With a touch of BuzzO in the verse

The rhythm guitar tones sound great! The solo at 1:18 sounded cool too, but it felt a tad buried and I couldn't make out what was being played as much as I'd have liked to.

Definitely a touch of Danzig. Good stuff. Having a hard time keeping track of your amp set up, which one did you use for this?

Thanks for the input.
Actually there are 2 separate solos in there, I blended them, so they do kind of walk over each other a bit. One is in left channel and one is in right, but ya, in the final Mix they get a little lost.

Try hard panning them.

This is going to sound weird, but I admire your reaction to D's advice. For some reason people on the internet (even when asking for input), don't just take advice cleanly -they tend to argue or give reasons why not to... :lmao:

Thanks brother!
I don't really have any feelings or ego to hurt, because I'm married.

Just want to learn to make it sound as good as it can get, given my lack of talent and knowhow.

It's the sign of a true ego to be able to accept and learn from constructive criticism. Your recordings certainly show your growth over the years.

The coolest thing about a topic like recording is there is no absolutes or right or wrong -only preference -so it lends itself well to input and suggestion without ego.

I've been engineering, performing and producing records since 1990 and there's still plenty I can learn or be influenced from watching literally anyone record.

I asked a 14 year old the other day how he miked something to get that sound.
