Ibanez 540r fishoil disaster

This is a friends radius i restored for him. About 15 years ago he went over to Europe for a couple of years to live/work. Before he left he decided to paint his whole radius in fishoil:18: And when i say all i mean ALL pickups,tremolo, tuners body neck. For some reason he thought this would help protect the guitar while he was gone. I have since punished him with many insults so i think he learned his lesson.

Anyway i spent a good few days cleaning it all off. It was a big job i tell you . the headstock logo was ruined so i just taken it of but the rest came up good, the finish is slightly more matte now. 15 years plus of baked on fishoil isn't fun to remove.

I wish this guitar was mine it is an absolute weapon..

It even has the original booklet that came with it

Radius stirfry? Does it still stink? Well, at least you won't have to worry about oiling the fretboard . This one goes into the 'crimes against MIJ Ibanez' dossier.

I see that it comes with the original chainsaw case; need a couple of those meself.

Did you see the super minty fountain blue one someone scored on Jemsite?

Fish oil yes yes all over like he was basting a chicken.

mineral oil maybe, but fish oil is loaded with organics that break down and smell nasty.

He thought it would somehow preserve it while he was gone. He was very embarrassed when he asked me if i could fix it for him.

Well the guitar appears to be rust-free, so the fish oil must have worked.

Maybe he thought fish oil would help when he was playing scales .......
