IBANEZ EDGE III TREMOLO

DOES ANYONE HAVE TROUBLE KEEPING A FLOYD STYLE (EDGE III) TREMOLO IN TUNE? MINE I CAN TUNE IT TO PERFECT PITCH AND LET IT SIT FOR A WHILE AND ITS OUT OF TUNE AFTER STRINGS HAVE BEEN STRETCHED AND EVERYTHING....ITS USUALLY ALMOST A 1/2 STEP OUT OF TUNE....AND HOW DO YALL CHANGE THE STRINGS ON YALLS AND SET THE BRIDGE

I don't have that problem with mine. In holds tune as well as my original Floyds, and my two good Jackson jt580lp trems (I have a third one that won't hold tune to save it's hide).

I meant after they have been stretched. They will NOT stay at perfect at all. Do you have any suggestions to how I'm supposed to be doing this. I've been fighting this thing for a little over 3 years now and it's starting to get old lol.

when I got my RG4 I set the bridge like a floyd
and had the same problem

but as you can see the top is level but this is wrong
set it to balance with the bottom of the base plate level

the edgeIII balances different than floyds

Well it stays in tune but it's usually a half step out. How are you able to keep it in exact tuning though? That's my issue. I guess I can't get my mind around why it won't stay and the tuning sequence of a floater.

Sound like a spring tension issue. Don't adjust the bridge by eye use a tuner.

Well it stays in tune but it's usually a half step out. How are you able to keep it in exact tuning though? That's my issue. I guess I can't get my mind around why it won't stay and the tuning sequence of a floater.

ehdwuld has it right. Also, when you say half-step out, you mean sharp or flat? If it is sharp, and remains 100% stable after that, then by all chances your problem is on the locking nut side : the strings do not sit flat on the nut, so by tightening the nut pads' bolts they are pressed down and thus go sharp. Also effectiveness of the locking nut is a must, you must make sure that the strings cannot slip under the nut's pads. If this happens instability will occur.

If you are setting it up at standard E
Then tuning down to e flat
You're gonna have to adjust the spring tension
Or the bridge will drop into the cavity

If you put a positive stop behind the block
Making it dive only
You can explore slack tuning to your hearts content

ACTUALLY ITS USUALLY OUT HALF STEP FLAT. I DO KNOW I NEED TO ADJUST MY BRIDGE, SINCE IT SITS AT A SLIGHT ANGLE FORWARD, AS ITS NOT LEVEL LIKE ehdwuld SHOWED.

With mine I make sure that the bottom of the base is parallel with the top of the guitar body, and make sure that the tone block is square with the guitar. If it's not, I gradually adjust the springs and re-tune until everything is square.

I also have my springs setup in the triangle shape that most people who have experience with floyds do with their floyd style trems. The middle spring runs straight up the middle and the outer springs are in the outside holes on the tone block and are on the hooks closest to the middle spring on the claw.

I'm not entirely sure what it does other than increasing tension on the ends of the sustain block, but going off of my own experience, it does make a difference.

so you mean that you tune it to pitch and then lock the pads and instantly go half step flat? Or after a while?

spring tension is smth that you may need to add or may need to remove, it depends on whether the plate is parallel to the body with the given string gauge/tension.
