If you got a trem stopper or another way to block it from pulling up, making it dive only, it will make it tremendously easier to deal with. Then you tighten the springs a little more and you can change tunings, break strings, and do compound bends while staying in tune.

You are right. But, I actually use I both ways. More than I thought

I have a E3 and it is just a disaster for me. I broke the locking bolt clean off and failed at drilling it out, all in which was the day and following weeks I bought it. I hate every single Floyd and copy that involves cutting off the string ball.

That's what I said that I won't own another floating bridge on a guitar, unless it's a steal or someone makes me one to try out as a prototype.

I absolutely hate tremolos all together. I'd much rather have a fixed bridge for drop tunings because of the way it reacts.

I enjoy the one I have, I think I just have to get it set up correctly. It does stay in tune extremely well but I just need to do some work on it. It usually stays about a half step flat usually.

dude i just fixed another tremolo that was going flat.. I was rewiring her,so i took the opportunity to oil the board,fix the tremolo.,.ect.. I used a dab of Vaseline on the knife edges and it works as it should.. I know I already suggested it but that was a different guitar/tremolo.. this guitar was doing the same as the other guitar, and now she works as she is supposed to

I use chapstick
Brandenburg uses Vaseline

whichever you have handy
if one doesnt work try the other

Awesome. So I just take off the strings, hen remove the springs and take the bridge out completely and put some Chapstick on the knife edges?

Just don't overdo it, cause it will start collecting dirt which will have the opposite effect. Maybe sharpening would work better, or even replacing the knife edges, if that is possible. Ibanez unfortunately no longer supports removable knife edges, but older Edge 3 might have those.

I don't think I can replace the knife edges on the one I have. I bought it in early 2006 I think.

But if it's a new bridge
It shouldn't be worn enough to need a bunch of lube either

So you think that if I just adjust the spring tension in the back it should fix my issue?

yes
loosen it just a bit
and retune

you will have to release the locking nut

come out one full turn on the spring screws

tune to pitch

watch for a bit

see if it levels out

if not

come out a bit more
the strings will go flat as the bridge rises

tune again
if its too high
screws in
tune

just balance it
then lock the nut

and fine tune

In addition to what ehdwuld wrote, also you may find convenient having a long pencil or ruler and run it over your plate to see if this is exactly parallel to the body. Adjust the spring tension to make it parallel to the body.

i pop a pink rectangular eraser under the bridge to keep it level.. then i change all strings at once..

everyone has their own way of doing things.. so whatever works best
