Ibanez Gurus?

Alright, I posted this at Jensite, but figured there was probably as good or better of a chance of it getting answered here.

S2620 info?

I found a 2002 S2620 and was wondering if anyone had any info or first hand experience?
I can’t find it on the wiki, only the 3620. It appears to have a low pro? It has no truss rod cover or even screws for one. I wasn’t sure if these were for a dealer or what the deal was. The seller says it has PAF Pros, but the other guitars around that time didn’t have full blown Dmz pups.

Anyhow, thanks in advance!

Re: Ibanez Gurus?

jemsite is a quiet place unfortunately. Rich Harris broke his arm, so not many answers in the tech section.

Re: Ibanez Gurus?

Some of the prestige models came with name brand
Dimarzio pickups

The 4 digit model is a prestige model

So there's that

Re: Ibanez Gurus?

Don't you mean a RG2620? Never seen a four number model for the S line beginning with a 2.

Re: Ibanez Gurus?

22 frets, Lo Pro Edge, looks like it's in great shape. The pickups certainly look like DiMarzios, especially in the closeup shot of the bridge, you can pretty much see the DiMarzio lettering on the bridge pickup. That might be a little high for a 2002, but it does have a mahogany back and flame maple top so it is a step up form the normal Prestige line.

I know there’s some people who argue about what years are good or bad, but I’ve never heard of a truly BAD Japanese Ibanez.

What about the fretboard and back stripe? It looks like ebony and rosewood or bubinga to me?

Re: Ibanez Gurus?

My first guitar was an Ibanez It was some mid 80s model. Have to check if I still have photos of it. Stupidly traded it for Fender Precision bass, which even more stupidly traded for some ****ty Yamaha amp or something...

I can't really tell, looks like ebony, but no guarantees, I was just going by the pictures. FWIW, it's a Prestige, it is a great guitar. I love the Edge and Lo Pro, I was a huge Ibz fanboy, my first new electric was an RG550 in 88-ish(?), my main guitar for years was an 89 rootbeer JEM (see my avatar), the only reason I'm not playing them now is the new necks are too thin for me (17mm), they still play great, I just need a little more meat on the neck.
