Ibanez Jem Jr Monkey Grip and feedback

Re: Ibanez Jem Jr Monkey Grip and feedback

No. not at all. it cause feedback from other people though ... -like what the hell is that hole through his guitar?

Re: Ibanez Jem Jr Monkey Grip and feedback

Yeah, it is just a functional handle, nothing more.

Re: Ibanez Jem Jr Monkey Grip and feedback

Monkey grips.... smh… for the love of god... :)

His JEMs were iconic but I always liked the 550's 565's and 770DX's personally.

Re: Ibanez Jem Jr Monkey Grip and feedback

Don't wear the guitar too low, as the monkey grip can allow too much sound to pass through your guitar, adversely affecting your sperm count.

Mind Blown..... :lmao:

also, if you wear it low enough you can show off your stage chub.

Re: Ibanez Jem Jr Monkey Grip and feedback

I never understood how adamant people are about outwardly expressing their dislike for the handle bar on the Jem. I had a JEM77 loaned to me for a particular project and it played and sounded great. People pointing out how they thought the handle bar was stupid felt kind of like calling out a pro athlete because you don't like their shoes.

I only had the guitar for 2 months and that crap got real old, real quick.

if you acted like a rock star and you dont give a crap what people say... you'd never hear the jokes after a few attempts

-but thats why people make the jokes... because they want to get to you...

plus monkey grip and stage chub are fun to say.

Spot on.

If you can't handle the jokes you can't handle a Jem.

The same applies to spandex and face tattoos, and countless other stuff.

Re: Ibanez Jem Jr Monkey Grip and feedback

I can handle jokes about Jems, I just can't handle ignorant lard asses reciting "why does your guitar need a handle?" verbatim several times a night. That is why I don't own a Jem.

I hear what you’re saying. It’s similar to when I was a teen. I was a cashier at the local grocery store. 10 times a day, when something wouldn’t scan Into the register some smartass would say “that means it’s free, right!!!”

Gee sir, I’ve never heard that before...

Re: Ibanez Jem Jr Monkey Grip and feedback

I don't hate it but I could do without it...the Lion's claw was a bad mamma jamma however.

I really have no strong feelings about the grip. But you gotta see how that is literally not being able to handle jokes right?

Like you said you could handle Jem jokes and then immediately contradicted that statement.

I was tired and didn't see your word play (which I will admit was pretty funny) but I don't see any contradiction on my part.

I think it would be more like people calling out the pro athlete because they got "I'm with stupid" tattooed on their forehead. It's subjective whether or not you'd like it, and doesn't really hurt anything, but it's overall kind of dumb.

Re: Ibanez Jem Jr Monkey Grip and feedback

Plus keep in mind that these comments/jokes are from a bunch of drunks.
I wouldn’t put too much stock it then.

Re: Ibanez Jem Jr Monkey Grip and feedback

I’ve never really understood the hate for the JEM monkey grip… It’s just one of the things that makes them distinctive. It wouldn’t bother me one bit to own one, and if some dumbass wants to ask me why my guitar needs a handle I would just tell them, “So that I can keep it under control.”
