Hi! For about 6 months I'm gonna buy a new guitar and I've been thinking, currently, of these two: Ibanez RGIT20FE and Jackson KVMG Pro Series King V. The difference is in: neck, bridge and neck pickup. I think that RG has better neck, Jackson has better neck pickup (with coil split), if someone prefer fixed bridge, I can always buy Tremol-no. I just want to hear your opinion why you will choose one over the other.

Re: Ibanez or Jackson???

Personally, I will 99% of the time take a Jackson over an Ibanez. I haven't played an Ibanez yet that I liked better than any Jackson I've played.

That being said, I would recommend you play both of them (if possible) before you make the purchase...see which one feels and sounds the most to your liking and go with it.

Re: Ibanez or Jackson???

I just don't like Ibeenhads at all and I have played many top end and custom made ones. New Jacksons are decent guitars and being based on good design they generally are decent to start and upgrade very well. The differences in those guitars are so much more then what you stated it can't all be listed. You should put your hands on them and get the one that YOU like the most .

Re: Ibanez or Jackson???

I agree but when both were made in the same factory it's a bit of a void statement, isn't it?
I mean what we're talking about are two Corts with a different name on the headstock.

Aside from that, the two guitars are completely different in their construction, balance and playing position. Pick one you like more. I love me a good Jackson but so far the new pro series didn't quite blow me away.

Not to be argumentative but being made in the same factory doesn't mean they are the same...a Ford Edge and a Ford Flex are made/assembled in the same plant but that doesn't mean they drive the same. I've yet to play an Ibanez that played like a Jackson...

Re: Ibanez or Jackson???

They certainly look quite different. The Ibanez is beautiful, so it gets my pick.

Re: Ibanez or Jackson???

If you like the Ibanez neck get it and change the pickups.
Making the Jackson neck feel like an Ibanez neck is way more difficult

Re: Ibanez or Jackson???

You just can't beat a good Ibanez. And most of the time a good tech can turn a bad Ibanez into a good one, quite easily. So the vote goes for Ibby.

Re: Ibanez or Jackson???

How is this even a poll? This is like asking... Hey guys do i want a hamburger or pizza for dinner... When your in the mood for one the other wont do. Do you want a pointy guitar? Get the Jackson... Do you want a super strat shape? Get the Ibby...The quality is a wash so whichever blows your skirt up more is the one you buy.

Re: Ibanez or Jackson???

If you like the Ibanez neck better, get it. You can hot-rod the Ibanez's pickups to work like the Jackson's, but you can't do as much to make the Jackson neck as comfortable in your hands as the Ibanez.

Re: Ibanez or Jackson???

Yea true tata^ jackson make some truly great guitars. Just steer clear of Indonesian made ibbys. :naughty:

Interesting, Trey. I'm the opposite, I most always prefer an Ibanez to a Jackson. I most prefer the Ibanez necks to Jacksons. Might I ask what lends you to Jackson?

Re: Ibanez or Jackson???

Both the Jackson and the Ibby in question are both made in Indonesia.

IMO, I'd buy a used MIJ or MIA.

^^^

This is my answer. The MIJ Professional series Jacksons made in the late '80s/very early '90s were very close to the MIAs in quality, which is to say, top notch. :cool2:

Jacksons typically have slightly more substantial (but still ultra fast) necks too, which I like. Ibanez Wizard type necks are good for maximum shred, but that style isn't something that continues to appeal to me over long periods of time. I NEVER tire of a good Jackson neck.
