Have you actually gotten your hands on one or, better still, tested it through a serious amplifier?
From recent encounters with MIC SA, Destroyer and Fireman models, I concluded that the construction is fine. For my tastes, the finish is overly glossy. (Same goes for the MIC Fender/Squier stuff.) The electronics assembly work resembles typical SE Asian fare. All Cortek and cable ties - even when the actual pickups are US-made.
Playability is fine but I get the nagging feeling that something is not quite right. In the case of the Fireman, this could be because the thing is constructed in the Gibson manner but sounds like a Fender.
Ibanezs China and Indonesia stuff is pretty well made. I wouldn't be concerned about workmanship.
It comes with a Custom 5 and a 59 so you're getting good pickups.
The only thing I dislike about Ibanez and this was the case on my new $1200 MIJ RG Prestige is the electronics..
Everyone I have seen including Team J Craft comes with Alpha pots and cheap ceramic caps..
The Alphas kinda have this tendency of wandering into different postions as you're playing especially the volume and the tones really have no taper to them..
I use my tone knob a lot being a Les Paul guy.. I hate hate hate that in a guitar especially a gigging guitar. It's an easy fix though, Bourns or CTS drop right in as well as your favorite brand tone caps..
That's really my only complaint with them. The rest is normal stuff, put your favorite strings on and do a minor setup to your playing tastes..
If you wanna Starchild guitar this is the ticket at under $1k..
