Ibanez RG927QMZ vs UV70P

Re: Ibanez RG927QMZ vs UV70P

I'd get the Vai guitar. I hate Vai's music, but his 7 strings are some of the best.

I saw the RG in Guitar Center, and that quilt maple veneer looks horrible in person, as if it's painted on. There's no depth to it.

Re: Ibanez RG927QMZ vs UV70P

Actually i wouldn't get the vai 7 string because i recall him saying he started using it because he heard KORN on the radio. ****n korn ffs **** **** ****

That's a bunch of bullcrap! How the f*uck would that be possible? Korn is the one who adopted Vai's 7 string Universe, taking crap all over it, wrapping it with duct tape.

@Greekdude: Both should have ZPS system cause both use Edge Zero II. Why don't you take a look at the back, they should have the thumb spring adjuster. I would go for the Universe by the way.

I hear there are some awesome 8-string acoustics from Greece that are worth taking a look at greekdude ;-)

Re: Ibanez RG927QMZ vs UV70P

Why not try a 7-string Schecter? I always liked those a whole lot more than Ibanezs. Telesound has them at Galatsi: http://telesound.gr/teleshop/el/110-7-8- (210-2923709) ...or there's always Thomann.

For something more high-end and customizable I'd indeed suggest Carvin although I know first-hand how much of a PITA importing a guitar from the US is (last time I had to wait a freakin' month and a half for it to go through customs and I ended up paying them about 350€ or so...).
Alternatively you can go through their German dealer = no customs :D http://www.station-musicshop.de/epa...ies/Category1/Electrics/Carvin/7_8__12_String

If you only have to get Between the two, visually I much prefer the red one better but if you feel the middle pickup would see much use then IMO function > looks.

Euxaristo file,
this one : http://telesound.gr/teleshop/en/110-7stirng-8string-lh looks really good, but it is slightly off budget. I mean, i am an amateur, i cannot easily justify 5 electrics. And yes, this mid pup, would eliminate the use of an extra strat --> more guitars eligible for retiring. But anyway, this white Hellraiser with floyd rose, is an ultra beautiful guitar. But also it is mahogany, set-neck, and with EMGs. I already have an LP-style guitar (Ibanez ARZ800) with EMGs, and apart from that, EMGs in my environment are a little noisy. My duncans and dimarzios are dead quite. That's another consideration.

Carvins are fantastic instruments, but at least my DC135 is very unstable, needs truss-rod adjustment very often, even after slight weather changes. Ibbys seem more stable.

Carvins with laminated necks are just as stable..

Like this one here would be stable table.

I'd go for the UV, but I'm biased. I believe the newer ones have jumbo frets, which must be a major improvement, but the originals like mine still rock.

Mine has tons of lead mojo. I put a Blaze Custom at the bridge, and it and the Blaze Neck are two of my fave lead sounds of all my guitars. Great crunch, too. The Evo7 has an even better crunch, at the expense of some richness for the lead tone.

Re: Ibanez RG927QMZ vs UV70P

^^^ thank you, i am just waiting for its price to fall a little bit, as the new batch will arrive soon from Japan, and then i will be waiting with a pulled trigger!

Re: Ibanez RG927QMZ vs UV70P

Hello again

I was kind of motivated by the Schecter HellRaiser C-7 FR the Greek friend posted above. So i wanted to ask, if there are any players here who have this, how heavy is it? i mean weight wise. I wouldn't like a guitar way too heavy. Also any estimations for the weight of the UV70p?

Re: Ibanez RG927QMZ vs UV70P

Hi there again. Pulled the trigger for the UV70p Universe!

I read some negative online reviews about Edge-Zero II-7 bridge. How would you rate it? Will it be reliable and durable? I am no stranger to fixing, setting up floyds. I have set up and even repaired two of floyds of mine. Where are the weak points of this bridge? Maybe the knife edges ?

Re: Ibanez RG927QMZ vs UV70P

The knife edge is quite okay. The baseplate itself is soft, very soft. Be careful not to strip holes in the baseplate when intonating. I did that to my EZ-II.

Re: Ibanez RG927QMZ vs UV70P vs Schecter HellRaiser C-7 FR

I haven't. I used the second intonation hole which is sturdier and live with the bad intonation. I'm saving for an upgrade, though.

Did you turn the saddle bolt hard or just hardish? I have the same problem in my kramer, and also used the second intonation hole :)

Now, is there any direct fit for those trems?

Anyways, i haven't paid yet, what do you say? To buy it or not?

Re: Ibanez RG927QMZ vs UV70P vs Schecter HellRaiser C-7 FR

Have to, otherwise the saddles would slip. I'd say go for it. I seem to be the only one AFAIK.

No direct fit, sadly. The trems get the job done, though.

Rick from Ibanezrules said this is a common problem, having soft baseplates, but he implied that i really have to push for it to have it happen.

i dont think so, lots of ppl complaint about the Chinese Edge Zero II bridges. I just hope they are better than the ultra cheap chinese FR clones out there.
