Ibanez thinline is on it's way!

As mentioned in the Ibanez thread, I've been looking for a good platform to test pickups and grabbed a RC365T for a great price-

Will be awhile before new pickgaurds are wired and loaded, but will keep you posted on progress.

It's here and a bit of a surprise from an Amp POV- Ibanez thinline is on it's way!

So the RC365 is here and exactly as advertised- Nice set up, plays exactly like the ones I've played previously- Stock pups aren't bad, but we got it to show off good pups- It sounds very nice unplugged, so it should do very well with some nice pups-

But big surprise, as is, it likes my Peavy 50 classic 4*10 much better than my MM HD130 4*10-

Normally, strats and teles prefer the headroom and highs of the music man while LPs tend to like the Peavey -I expected more tele than Les Paul from this one.

The Iba is a 25.5 maple neck, mahogany thin line with a maple cap and I had really expected the scale length to dominate since it probably doesn't weigh 6 pounds. It's got a reasonable tele neck tone which is a vote for the MM.

But the bridge humbucker's relatively low output and relatively bright and pulling it towards the Peavey and the neck is still reasonably teleish with the Peavy.

It's likely that we'll be wiring it up for 3 p90s first, so it will be interesting to see if that keeps it in the "Les Paul" camp as we might expect- Firebirds are likely to follow, and my guess is that one day this get the Rick + Firebird + Prails config that I've posted previously- that might move it back to the MMan camp.

Will keep you posted and thanks again for great input and a fun place to post-

Re: Ibanez thinline is on it's way!

I had one of those. I went with a "Twisted Tele" neck pup, and a Gibson P-94 bridge. (I didn't want to route it up for different
Sized pups) These have the usual "box" style switch, so I changed that, too.
You should dig yours, no matter how you set it up. Keep us posted!

Sounds like a great combination.

Routing for 3 generic pups and a little more room for 5 way. Upper bout will be used for extra switches.

Will keep you up and thanks for info.

Mine was routed for what the guard had, neck single and bridge hum. Are you doing a "swimming pool" or routing for specific pups? Either way, it'll be cool.

Wow, what a nice forgotten Ibanez. I really do like their weirdo hybrids and semi-hollows. Great guitars for not much cash.
