Ibanez trem

On a lot of the low/mid range Ibanez RGs, the tremolos are now labeled as "standard double locking." Are these Edge bridges? If not, are there any edge bridges that are a direct replacement?

Re: Ibanez trem

They use the edge zero2 bridge without the zero return system.

Fairly good trem, but not as good as an original edge.

Re: Ibanez trem

I don't think it's an edge zero ii. Those are on iron labels now.

I played a jem jr at a local shop the other day and it had the same kinda no-name trem

Re: Ibanez trem

If your talking the current RG Standard series, it looks like a MIK Takeuchi TRS trem. Definitely, not an EDGE.

Re: Ibanez trem

The standard RGs and the Iron Labels are mid-range models and both come with the Edge Zero2. If it's not Japanese, it's not a high-end, regardless of the price. Are you talking about the GIO?

As far as I know, the Takeuchi is only Japanese, so if a TRS trem actually says Takeuchi it is from Japan and it's a good tremolo, even though a lot of people don't like the way it feels, or the fact that it looks like all the rest of the inexpensive Floyd copies. The Korean ones are not good, they don't hold up. I don't have all the details on these Indonesian ones, but I imagine they're much like the Korean ones that have been available since the 90s.

You guys are all correct that the Indonesian guitars with a different trem than this are probably a better choice.

Re: Ibanez trem

I can say this: I bought an RG450DX and took it to a very well-known guitar tech/luthier in the greater Ann Arbor area. He was so disgusted with the quality of the trem that I sent the guitar back.

Currently saving my pennies for an RG655M... or another interesting older Prestige-level RG with H/S/H
