Ibanez vs. Maxon pedals...

I noticed alot of the Maxon pedals are exactly the same as Ibanez pedals, but often twice the price.

Is there a huge difference between the Maxon and Ibanez pedals? I mean, if I didn't like the Ibanez version, am I missing something by not trying the Maxon version?

Re: Ibanez vs. Maxon pedals...

The Maxons are built to the original spec- on the overdrive they are built to TS808 specs- while the Ibanez has a few parts changed- one chip and a few resistors.

It's a bit confusing since mose circuit boards in Ibanez pedals are Maxon- so I don't know if they're building just the board for Ibanez or the entire pedal

Re: Ibanez vs. Maxon pedals...

Maxon was the original maker for Ibanez, so they do them like they used to.

Re: Ibanez vs. Maxon pedals...

yep there is a difference between current maxons and current ibanezes- at least as far as the "9" series goes. The maxons are in heavier constructed cases. They also have really heavily constructed true bypass switches - the ibanez have normal cheapo buffered switches.
Essentially, a maxon OD9 is how an ibanez ts9 should be constructed. They don't cut corners in manufacturing costs.

I don't think there is any difference in the shells.

Maxon PCB's are higher quality and the Maxon pedals use a very expensive 4PDT true bypass switch.

Those are the 2 biggest differences.
