Ibanez Wiring Issue!

Hey all,
I've got an Ibanez RG270DX MIK, and it's got some issues. For those of you that have owned an MIK Ibanez from that era, you know what I'm talking about when it comes to dodgey wiring. I cracked the thing open today to repair an output jack and grounding wire issue, and now the thing buzzes like hell. All I did was rewire the ground going to from the back of the volume pot to the trem claw and the input jack itself. Any ideas as to why the thing buzzes so much? I think it may be a grounding issue, because when I touch the metal part of the cable that goes from my guitar to the amp, the buzzing stops. Maybe I wired it wrong? Please help me out, because I'm looking to sell this guitar soon and I want to get the most I can for it. I'm also pretty much a noob when it comes to guitar wiring, but I'm pretty handy with the soldering iron due to past experience wiring cabs and other various household electronics.

Cheers, and thanks for anything that you have to contribute!

Re: Ibanez Wiring Issue!

yep the jack is wired back wards

see the image below
insert jack into guitar
turn volume all the way up
put pickup selector to neck pickup

test sleeve to bridge with multimeter on ohms
then test tip to bridge

tip is hot
sleeve is ground
bridge and ground should read dead short or the same as
touching the leads together

tip to bridge should read the resistance of the neck pickup

Re: Ibanez Wiring Issue!

Could be one of those Tip-Ring-Sleeve jack sockets that fasten through the body wood. The Sleeve ground terminal is easy to identify. The Tip and Ring terminals can be less easy to differentiate. When a mono jack plug is used, the Ring terminal acts as part of the ground circuit.
