I'd like satin/brushed nickel 'bucker covers, can Duncan do this for me?

Re: I'd like satin/brushed nickel 'bucker covers, can Duncan do this for me?

Awesome, thanks!

Yep Scotch brite works too just be gentle with it! Here's one I had in my photobucket, the bridge is obviously the Brobucker with the cover I did and the neck is the stock ME pick up. If you look closely at the poles they are the only let down as they were out of a gold '57 classic and were already losing the gold plating!

^^^ oh wow that DOES look good! So 3600 grit sandpaper eh? I'll give it a go! Thanks for the advice, I'll post results eventually when I buy the pickups and get them installed. :)

Cool, just to give you a better idea I will post a couple of close ups of those in the guitar and the one I removed so you can see it's not so hard to get good results. Thinking about it I did use use a combination of both 3600 AND Scotchbrite but I used both very carefully so as not to rip into the nickel too deep.

That does look really cool. I like it better than the shiny ones, actually. Come to think of it, I also like matte colors- matte black bobbins look better to me than the shiny black ones.

Hey SJ,

I bought it on sale, so I'm not 100% sure. I have to look into it.

They don't really say, do they?

EDIT: It appears they sell for a little more.

Re: I'd like satin/brushed nickel 'bucker covers, can Duncan do this for me?

Hi there b.brum.,
Thanks for answering. I wish I could just call but as I've said many times, these damn meds I'm on keep me on such a strange schedule.
Every time I try to call I am on hold for 45 minutes till I give up, if I go to the operator she sends me to the custom shop, but it is always MJ who picks up. And price quoting is not her job. Left e-mail messages twice, never returned. a third time I was asking about pricing on a subject over e-mail and guess who answered-yes-MJ.
That is another reason I ask questions that folks are sick of answering, like taper vs. linear questions, things I should be able to ask the helpline. I'll leave with this. 1 time I got through, long time ago, about a year I guess, asking about mags being attracted or repelled in the center of a P-90. The guy did not know, put me on hold, came back, said sorry, he did not know. Seems like a help guy at a pickup company should know that, not trying to give him grief or anything, just sayin'.
Thanks for answering, really,
SJ

Re: I'd like satin/brushed nickel 'bucker covers, can Duncan do this for me?

I haven't ordered a Shop Floor Custom myself before - the ones I have I picked up because they were unloading them on sale (e.g. it wasn't my order, someone ordered it, changed their mind and didn't buy it).

I would speculate the price might be set only by the distributor because my understanding is Shop Floor Customs have to be ordered through the music store selling Duncans, not ordered through Duncan directly. That means there may be a music store out there that might sell a Shop Floor Custom for the same price as the regular pickup (though they would have to be doing some high volume to make it worth it.)
