Idea. Pickup quick swap device

I was thinking of cutting the leads off of the pickup near the actual pickup, making some sort of clip. Then making compatible attachments on the short leads of the pickups.

I know there might be some line integrity issues but I would like the idea of quick swapping pickups without having to re-sodder. I'd probably get at least half SD's humbucker line alone.. Seem like just 1 pickup no matter how good can be limiting..I think I'd like pickups to be more like pedals and just use what you are in the mood for.

Already been done.. The Taylor solid body guitars are like that. I've also been thinking of making something for this concept too. As well as a similar idea for the control panel. The way I was thinking of doing it was to build a custom printed circuit board that would have a 4 pin connector on it to connect the pickup to, a second 4 pin connector that would allow you to hook up a Triple Shot or use a terminator that would pass the signal along in series to a 3 conductor output to the control panel. This PCB would be just about the size of the HB route and would have 2 grounding screw holes and an insulator on the bottom so you could screw it in the bottom of the pickup route. It's a great idea, just not too practical. however It would be nice for people who have a couple guitars and want to have an easy way to swap pickups between them.

DiMarzio let's you custom order with quick-connect ends also. and, if I remember correctly...once upon a time in the 80's, this Duncan guy sold pickup modules that popped into the back of a Duncan guitar...
