Ideas for Future Forum Pickups

Re: Ideas for Future Forum Pickups

I say it's time for a custom shop active pickup, everything has been done in passive already, it's time to try the active approach, i say something with alnico 8, or half alnico 8 for treble strings and half cermaic for bass strings.

Re: Ideas for Future Forum Pickups

How bout a fat cat Rail, singular. One rail, like the old Peavy T-30 pups, those were single coil, i loved them.

it's still nothing like a p90! unless the rail is false, i guess?

a lot of a P90's voice comes from it's low fat coils.. thats why jaguars sound totally different from jazzmasters, even phat cats aren't 100% p90!

you're describing a classic or hot stack - maybe a2 for something different?

Ok, alot of people are saying that the next one should be a strat single coil, does anybody want to elaborate? Alot of people want a tapped bridge, I remember a few people liked the tapped neck idea, maybe a set? It would be much more expensive but could be worth it...

Maybe a cross between the antiquity and surfer sets, w/ aged A5 poles and tapped neck and bridge pickups? Could be one of the most versatile pure strat setups ever.... Noise cancelling or no

Or maybe a rail style single coil? Like the single sized humbuckers w/ rails, but a single? I know seymour duncan makes stacks that look like that, but what would a plane-jane single sound like in that format?

I also really like the idea of the lil' CC for strat, the lil' EVH for strat, and the Phat Stack
