Hope the picture comes through, this is from a Japanese mid60’s solid body mandolin called the “Sanremo.” I’m trying to figure out why the gap was designed into this pickup, or maybe a piece is missing? The gap drops the volume for the strings above it (either the E or the D depending onhow its placed). Can’t figure out why it would be designed that way. Any thoughts? And if you know anything about this pickup, please fill me in.
