Hi, all...
I have bought a customized guitar with SD pickups and I'm puzzled as to what model they are. From studying the pictures on this site, I'd say there are few visual clues. There are no markings on the bottom of the p'ups, they're just typical black coiled hums with "Seymour duncan" on top. I stuck my ohm-meter on them while they were still soldered in and read 6.95 on the neck and 7.05 on the bridge. Hmmm.... seems mighty low. Probably 59's eh? Perhaps jazz? I'm also puzzled that the builder would not have put a hotter model in the bridge.
Is it necessary to desolder them to get a more accurate reading? According to the SD tone chart, no dual coil SD pickups should measure this low! I flipped the switches and twisted the knobs, and it made no diff in the reading.
thanks to any who may care to shed light....
