They choose EMG or Ceramic Dimarzio because they don't really play music , they looking for agression in a pickup ; i've recently been to a metal festival i on ten band just two where audible , the other where competing for stupid audio violence .

gibson wouldnt charge for an in demand product? i guess they just charge for the name on the product regardless of it's demand. $3000 for a LP Custom? Ridiculous. Yeah i have 2 LP customs didnt pay anywhere near that for them but thats what they retail for. At least when you spend $3000 on an American Rich you're gettin flames tops and decent picukups.

serious. for the same money as an LP standard, you could get a ver sexy dean USA V or something like that. but gibsons are in demand, so they can charge that much. too much if you ask me. im not saying theyre bad, i dig LPs, but the standards and above are way overpriced

This goes back to the supply and demand point from earlier, they can charge what they do because people will pay it. No offense but you just came right back to and justified the point you disagreed with. ranalli asked "who wouldn't charge what they could for a product if the demand was high", and that's EXACTLY what Gibson is doing.

Once you hit ONE pedal, you're low-impedence anyway.
EMGs retain highs and lows because they boost them in the preamp.
Once you go through ONE device, THAT DEVICE controls what the next one 'sees' and the origins of the signal are irrelevant.

Not really true. It completely depends on the device. Plugging into a true bypass device does nothing to lower impedence. Most wahs are especially vicious in there ability to destroy audio signal. Only pedals that use a buffer would be able to do this and even then the quality of the buffer plays a huge role in how effectively it functions to maintain transparency.

You must have one heck of an inside scoop on EMG if you know what their markup is and how much R&D they've done in the last thirty years. The simple explaination to their prices could be summed up in a simple little economics lesson titled "Supply and Demand."

Gee, two new guitar pickups in 30 years, and they're 7 string versions of 6 string pickups and they never bothered to make a new pickup cover....

Exactly....who wouldn't charge what they could for a particular product if the demand is high?? It would be bad business to do otherwise.....

You want to complain about prices...Duncan isn't that much cheaper....it's metal plate, plastic and wires and you get no pots either.

And talk about innovation...please...you're on a Seymour Duncan board for god's sake. I love their pickups but their humbucker line leaves alot to be desired as far as different EQs and outputs.

Yeaaaah, from LiveWire metal to Alnico II Pro...
So few options...

Yeah, and that's sleazey, and one of the reasons I own a peavey guitar and a peavey amp.
They charge what they need to, not what anyone will pay.

Yeah, but a wah is REALLY primitive, and now what they were talking about, really. It's a simple bandpass filter based off an inductor.
Insofar as the second point, that STILL holds true if you're using active pickups, MORESO as you now have an IMPEDENCE mismatch.
